Featuring Nina Clotfelter!

Some of you may remember a blog post in the distant past where Vicki Crooms, my good friend and "stalker"  from Alabama, shared her observations of "nekked Barbies" in the antique stores while shopping for linens.  A very popular blog post for sure!

I was recently teaching/speaking for the Pensacola Quilt Guild and a small group of Alabama quilters, Vicki's quilting friends, attended my workshops.  Needless to say they were in charge of the entertainment committee...what a great group of ladies!  One of these quilters, Nina Clotfelter, attended two of my workshops and wow...she should have been teaching them.  She is a fabulous quilter and she shared a recent project.  I just knew you would all love to see her work...especially with the "wedding season" coming up.  This would be a great idea for that special gift.  Nina's story is below...thank you for sharing Nina!

"I wanted to try your techniques as Vicki Crooms, (neked Barbie girl), had made some beautiful pieces!  My husband's best friend's son was getting married last year, and I wanted to do something special.  One of my brides maids had an artist paint on my wedding invitation, framed it, and gave it to me for a gift.  This is very special to me and still hangs on my wall after 26 years of marriage.

So, I looked for a hankie sized linen.  The wedding colors were yellow and blue and I wanted a linen with one or both colors...I found this one with yellow.

 I copied the wedding invitation onto printable organza.  I liked all the little extra scrolls and initials on the invitation, so I included them.

There was a little too much space in the middle and thought a heart would be appropriate.

The navy from the wedding is on the back of this piece.  I like the way it turned out!  I hope they will hang this in their home for years to come!!
