Featuring Rhonda Bastedo!

As many of you know, I am a Craftsy instructor and one of the pleasures of teaching this class is admiring the beautiful projects that are completed.  Rhonda Bastedo, one of my students, posted this completed quilt and I just KNEW you would be as inspired as I was.  Thank you Rhonda for allowing me to share you with the rest of the world and congratulations on your award...well deserved!

You came to my guild in King City, California.  We are the Valley Heritage Quilt Guild.  I was so impressed with your linen quilts.  My church had its annual rummage sale a few months later and there was this pillow sham.  I nabbed it up right away. We just had our Salinas Valley fair this weekend here in King City and I received a blue ribbon and best of show.

I cannot thank you enough for your class.  I honestly thought I would never be able to quilt like this.  One of the keys for me was your tip to put our elbows down and use fingertips.  I finally felt like I could actually control the quilt.  I also bought your handbooks and used Superioer Thread.  I thought as long as I was learning from you it would be nice to really follow your hints.  The threads were wonderful.  I seldom had any breaking.  I used Bottom Line in the bobbin and Highlights and Kimono Silk thread on the top.  It is so helpful that the thread has the needle size on the spools.  Oh, and I also used Superior needles.  Thanks again for such a great class!

Gorgeous and congratulations!! Does most of the color, if not all, come from the thread work?
