Thank you for inspiring all of us Judy! Hugs, Cindy :)
I did a couple of classes with Cindy in Adelaide last year. I am currently planning my next Cindy Needham inspired project and thought I would show you one of the things I have completed.
At one stage I actually quilted this project onto another linen project I was doing at the time. Long story...cleaned the sewing room and stacked them on top of one another and then later dashed in for a quick quilt...well maybe not as quick as I'd thought...several hours of unpicking...
I failed to heed your advice regarding the color fastness of the silk and the whole thing turned blue when I washed it. Nothing left to lose so I introduced it to Mrs. Bleach who saved the day. I had also done some less than remarkable quilting on the blue silk at one stage, so more unpicking.
I then decided to leave the silk unquilted and made it into a very unlovely cushion. Some months passed and I retrieved the project, cut it down, bound it and then did the lines on the silk.
The label reads:
We learn wisdom from failure much more than from success.
We often discover what will do by finding out what will not do. Samuel Smiles.
Did I learn something from all my failures? You bet. Hence the label. :)
Happy Quilting, Judy

A great story!
Great story and we all learn the hard way sometimes.
What a beautiful piece! She did a great job, and with all the troubles, too! Wow!
Wow - persistence pays off! Lovely.
What a gorgeous linen piece! I would love to find one like that, but it would probably be like capturing lightening in a bottle . . . thanks for sharing.
