If you're a "blog stalker" you already know how much I LOVE hostessing my retreats in McCloud...it's always a much needed pause to help me catch my breath and spend time with 35 good friends. Many of my retreaters come to McCloud to get away from life stressors and situations and they always seem to leave with a renewed strength and peace.
This time it was MY turn to come to McCloud to renew my strength and tap into my friends to get my feet back on the ground again. This past Monday our family suffered the loss of Kent's dad, Harold. It was completely unexpected and we are still reeling and in a bit of shock.
Harold was a fabulous jazz trumpet player and had been since high school...marrying his high school sweetheart Joan. Together they created a legacy in music that will live on forever. They touched lives around the world with their involvement in the Jazz Festival in Old Sacramento and the creation of the Jazz Camp for our youth.
While we were at the hospital this past weekend I had to take a step back and soak in our family as they gathered. There were three generations there...children...grandchildren...and great grandchildren 2 of which were only 4 weeks old. Joan and Harold's legacy will live on through all of us as well as those that they touched through their music.
Kent and I have appreciated the prayers and support that we've received from all of you.
Big Hugs, Cindy :)
