My Designs Workshop..."E.S.I."

This past week found me snugged up at the Hyatt in Rancho Cordova teaching my last extended designs workshop of the year.  What a wonderful way to wrap up the year!  When I had my last Linen Ladies Workshop it was nicknamed "OCD"...Obsessive Cindy Disorder.  Elizabeth was one of my students this week and nicknamed this workshop "ESI"...Every Stinking Inch.

During the week my students learn how to use all the different types of threads in their machines and become very aware of the impact that thread choices make on their quilted designs.  They each make two sacrificial samples where they learn to fill in shapes with different designs, how to create sunshine and shadow, dimension and movement.

These lessons help to build their confidence and they are then turned loose on designing and quilting their special class samplers.

All I can say is WOW...they created some amazing pieces this week and I'm fairly confident that each of them left with something they are VERY proud of!

On the last day we have a special show and tell where each of them shares what they worked on and the Admiration Society gives them a huge round of applause!

A big thank you to my students for a fabulous week!!! Congratulations on your beautiful work!

Hugs, Cindy :)

Cindy,

Thank you for sharing. These samples spur me on! I have am enrolled in your Craftsy class and watch it over and over. I have learned so much!! I can't wait to work on my own samples of background work. Oh..just so you know...I took to heart your insistence on "ESS" and went back to stitch in the ditch ESS of a quilt I finished (or so I thought) last year. It looks much improved!

Cindy, thank you, thank you for five wonderful days of sewing our hearts out! I feel I made a huge breakthrough and gained so much confidences in my designe capabilities. (And I'm pretty pleased with my feather's growth too!)
You are a truly wonderful teacher who can speak gently to each of our learning needs. Thank you so much!
