Featuring Marlene Rutherford!

Marlene Rutherford is one of my Craftsy students and she emailed me yesterday with a fabulous show-and-tell.  I can truly appreciate the exquisite work she has done.  I have done framed hankie corners for retreat gifts for the past few years and sold a few of them as well, and they are a total labor of love.

These pieces will be going to special friends of hers and I hope they truly appreciate the fabulous gift they will be receiving.

Beautiful work Marlene!  Here is her story:

The handkerchiefs were made for my stitching club friends and some special people whom I wanted to acknowledge because of the blessings they are to me.

All of the hankies were backed with Bosal and laid over Dupioni silk and Hobbs wool batting.  Quilting was done with Superior Bottom Line and Kimono Silk threads.

I sure learned a lot about tension doing these!  They were a challenge (don't blink and certainly don't cough or ripping stitches will be happening), but a whole lot of fun.

I would have never attempted something like this had it not been for your instruction, inspiration and easy going nature that gave me the confidence to go for it.

Blessings, Marlene Rutherford
