New Workshop Samples!

My crazy traveling schedule is over for the year...whew!  I am thoroughly enjoying some time at home with some one-on-one time in my sewing room and in front of my machine.

Just because I'm home doesn't mean I slow down my schedule...it means that I crank things up here getting ready for upcoming workshops and engagements.  I have been working on several new pieces for an upcoming workshop and thought I'd share.

I want to show my students that a "regular" wholecloth and a "linen" wholecloth are much the same, you are just using a different medium to quilt on.  The two pieces that are shown below are showing the same basic layout on both types of quilts.

I was working on this piece in McCloud last week...I have left a corner unfinished on purpose as I will be demo'ing techniques in class in this area.  For those of you who are familiar with my straight basting technique, you will see a couple of those lines traveling thru the quilt...

I loved how the feather corner was able to wrap around the motifs already present in the quilt.

The "regular" wholecoth is being done on Cherrywood fabrics.  For those of you unfamiliar with their line of hand-dyed solids, they are to "dye" for!

You will notice that this medallion design is very familiar to one that was featured in my last blog post of my Designs Workshop students...I was SO inspired by Elizabeth's work I had to do it myself!

With the Cherrywood pieces I am having fun getting out of my box and using bright threads, variegated, Glitter, Razzle Dazzle and some heavier silks.

I just put this piece in my machine last night...this one is being done on a beautiful lavender Cherrywood fabric.  I always like to test out a few areas to make sure everything is okay before I do the entire piece.  This piece is being quilted with Superior Threads' Kimono Silk for the background work and Magnifico for the primary feathers.  All pieces have used a full thickness wool batting.

Just thought it was time to touch base with all of you...it's been awhile.  Didn't want you to think I was resting on my laurels eating bon-bons!

Hugs, Cindy :)

Beautiful quilting Cindy!!! I have a gorgeous tablecloth with cut work that my grandma made probably before I was born that I would like to quilt. I hope that I can do it well. Thanks for all your inspiration and guidance!!!
